Alpine Dairy GoatsThis is our second year owning dairy goats. We decided the milk would be put to good use here between the boys and the pigs. We put much thought into the breed and although Alpines are not a heritage breed, they are a top producing dairy goat. That is what we need. We bought our first doe, Iris from a local farm by the name of Yellow Goat Farm. YGF tests their goats yearly for CAE, CL & Johnes. They also keep a closed herd. At the time we purchased Iris, she was bred. Batty came as her companion since we had no other does at the time. Later, we purchased Zazu from YGF in May 2012. Zazu is a registered, purebred French Alpine, see picture below. This year will be her second freshening. Update: Zazu had twin doelings! We decided to sell Iris and Batty to cut back on our Alpine herd. Both girls have gone to a wonderful family in West Virginia that cannot buy raw milk due to the restrictive laws in that state. Iris is providing their family with her delicious tasting milk!

LaMancha Dairy GoatsWe bought our first LaMancha doe, Embrace in February. She came from Celtic-Knot & Joyful-Morn LaManchas in Carrollton, OH. They keep a closed herd and test their goats yearly for CAE. She has such the sweet personality the breed is known for. Embrace freshened on March 13th with one doeling we named Maya.![]()
